Ternary Operator β A concise way to handle decision-making β
Hands-on Coding Examples & Best Practices
π₯ What Are Java Control Statements?
Control statements in Java help in decision-making and control the execution flow of the program. These statements include:
1οΈβ£ Conditional Statements
if,else if, andelseβ Used for conditional executionswitchβ A better alternative for multipleif-elseconditions
Example:
int num = 10;
if (num > 0) {
System.out.println("Positive Number");
} else {
System.out.println("Negative Number");
}
2οΈβ£ Looping Statements
Loops help execute a block of code multiple times:
forβ Used when the number of iterations is knownwhileβ Runs as long as the condition is truedo-whileβ Runs at least once before checking the condition
Example:
for (int i = 1; i <= 5; i++) {
System.out.println("Iteration: " + i);
}
3οΈβ£ Jump Statements
breakβ Exits the loop prematurelycontinueβ Skips the current iteration and moves to the next
Example:
for (int i = 1; i <= 5; i++) {
if (i == 3) {
continue; // Skips when i is 3
}
System.out.println("Iteration: " + i);
}
π‘ Ternary Operator in Java
The ternary operator (condition ? trueValue : falseValue) is a shorthand for if-else statements.
Example:
int num = 10;
String result = (num > 0) ? "Positive" : "Negative";
System.out.println(result);
This reduces the need for writing multiple lines of conditional statements!
